Ellen studied viola at Birmingham Conservatoire with Sophie Renshaw and James Sleigh, and continued her studies with Robin Ireland with whom she regularly partakes in workshops and masterclasses.

As a freelance musician Ellen has performed with many orchestras including section leader of English National Orchestra, and performed with esteemed musicians Bernard Gregor Smith and Ronald Binks, and conductors Simon Rattle and Mark Elder.

Ellen has also toured with world famous musicians Vanessa Mae and Smokey Robinson and works regularly in the recording studio, recently playing on the number one selling album Lady’s Bridge by Richard Hawley.

Ellen also teaches violin and viola in and around South Yorkshire and works closely with internationally renowned cellist Bernard Gregor Smith in his 4 strings 88 keys charity.
