What is a string quartet?
A string quartet consists of 2 violins, viola and cello

Will the music be too loud/quiet for our function?
The quartet is suitable for light background music. If a louder sound is required you may need amplification, or you may like to consider the octet.

How long will you play for?
We start at a minimum 1 hour booking. After that you can book us for as long as you wish, bearing in mind that the longer we play the more breaks we need to take. A break of at least 30 minutes is required if we play for 4 hours. 3-4 hours is comfortable for us.

What music would be most suitable for our function?
We have vast experience in all kinds of events and we would be able to guide you into choosing music should you want our help. If you have a specific song or piece of music you wish to be played that isn’t in our repertoire we will endeavour to find it. Sometimes we do have to arrange specific pieces which may incur an extra fee depending on the level of difficulty.

What should we provide on the day?
We request 4 armless chairs with enough space to play comfortably. If playing outside is necessary then adequate shade is required if sunny and similarly shelter if windy or rainy. Our instruments are very expensive and our insurance policies do not cover them for acts of god (British weather!) Other than that, just suitable refreshments are required.

How much does it cost to book the quartet?
We shall give you a quote dependant on you requirements. Please contact us for more information.

Are there any additional expenses?
No. All our expenses are included in the quoted price.

What happens if the wedding overruns?
Sometimes timings don’t quite work out. We can be fairly flexible, provided that no members of the quartet have any external obligations to fulfill. This would be discussed on the day and a mutual agreement reached.

Can we extend our booking on the day if required?
We will always endeavour to fulfil your requirements, and provided there are no external commitments any member of the quartet needs to fulfil, then we would be happy to negotiate further playing time on the day.

What is the quartet’s attire?
We dress in smart black clothes. For more formal occasions we can wear long black dresses if required. In the event of a male deputy being used, then they will also wear smart black shirt and trousers or dinner jackets.

How far in advance should we book?
The sooner you book the better as you then secure your date. The quartet has bookings up to 2 years in advance! We do however get last minute enquiries. It’s always worth asking as we may still be free. If not we will endeavour to put you in contact with other highly recommended groups.

What if a member of the string quartet is unavailable on the day?
We all lead busy lives and have several jobs and sometimes a quartet member is unavailable. We have a pool musicians that we use as deputies who are of equal professional standard and experience.
